WhatsApp gets the Free Calling feature only for selected Indians.
Few months back there were speculations of WhatsApp having the Calling feature, which was much awaited. But this remained as speculations and rumors at that time. But finally WhatsApp got this done only for selected Indian customers.
There are few reports which say that the WhatsApp is busy with the testing of its new feature voice calling, now a days. This Free calling feature is available only for limited number of users. This feature can be activated only by Invite-only basis.
The invite system is, if anyone whom you know get the free calling feature give your a WhatsApp call, from then on-wards, you would be able to get this feature. Or you can download this feature of free calling by APK file, you would need to go to the Android section of the WhatsApp official page.
If someone who has got this feature gives you a Whatsapp call, then you would be able to get the call feature in your Whatsapp account. However, if you want to download the APK file, you need to go to the Android section on the official website of Whatsapp.
This is defiantly not a good news for the Telecom companies in India. Because there are already facing a problem as major porting of the users use the messaging app for messages over the SMS services.
